ApeSquad Classics kicks off the return of pro-level esports within THE FINALS and since the recent pause of the scene team rosters have shifted A LOT. In this article I'm going to be talking about the three squads from each region I'll be keeping my eye on throughout the event, first with EMEA and then AMERICAS.
Team Secret (EMEA)
TGM25 2nd place runner up Team Secret is an interesting name to see on the roster list for this event as the Esports Organization has been radio silent since the conclusion of the major back in November. The previous roster consisted of Oji (H), Elyx (M), and Roma (L) however the squad has broken apart and the new roster will consist of Elyx, Dyrani, and Rawmah (previous username: Roma). We won't know role assignments and such until the event actually runs, especially with teams experimenting with non-H/M/L team compositions, so for the remainder of this article expect not to see any guesses in that regard.
Five Fears (EMEA)
Five Fears to me is arguably the strongest looking roster on paper arguably in the entire THE FINALS esports scene, but especially EMEA. The roster consists of two of the previous Alliance TGM25 squad: Carnifex (L) and Treason (M). This new roster has dropped the previous heavy player Palma for NAGHOSTX6 who was the previous medium on FNATIC during the last major. This roster I believe has what it takes to be a true force in the scene so I expect big things during Classics over the next few weeks.
We Don't Know (EMEA)
We Don't Know (WDK) is a newer roster consisting of Pulsar White's previous medium Etelco and is brought together by Some0ne and brandnewjhonny (previous username Emilien) . All three players are no stranger within pro-play as they have been seen numerous seasons in PHL and also previous ApeSquad events. Definitely curious to see how this team performs and I've got high hopes!
ENVY (AMERICAS)
TGM25 winners Gremlin (H) and Uni (L) have moved on from NTMR and their previous medium Lasagna to sign with ENVY and team with NotBubba. I mean, is there really much to say here? This team looks INSANE and in my opinion the strongest out of the AMERICAS region.
NTMR (AMERICAS)
Previous SSG Lamp (H) and Grad (L) have moved on from SSG and over to NTMR to join up with the previous NTMR roster's medium and TGM25 winner: Lasagna. I think one thing to talk about here is that it's interesting to see a dominant roster like the previous TGM25 winning roster from NTMR split up after a big win but there's potentially things behind the scenes that could cause something like this that I know nothing about (player contracts, payment, etc). Regardless, Lasagna is with good company as Lamp and Grad have proven time and time again that they have what it takes to be at the top. Lamp currently holds the number 1 spot on S10's ranked leaderboard, and the squad consistently has been scrimming throughout the esports pause. I do think this squad absolutely has what it takes to bring home a championship win during Classics.
Auntie's Goo Bois
First of all...hated typing that name, will be referring to them as AGB from here on lol. Anyways, AGB consists of the Ekazo squad made up of Ekazo, KDKiller, and Appoh. This squad continues to look strong, participating and winning the most recent LUQQQ Cup that I had the enjoyment of casting. KDKiller continues to perform as the name says, pretty much rocking cloak + M11 and putting high eliminations on the board. And the pairing of Ekazo with Appoh (previous TGM25 Pulsar Blue coach) seems to be working in ranked and scrims. I wouldn't count this off-meta team out in the mix for sure.
There's tons of other teams that I'm excited to watch that aren't named in this list, so expect me to be watching live over on at least my personal Twitch: https://twitch.tv/tfc_sam and potentially on the TFC main channel as well: https://twitch.tv/thefinalscentral . Of course you can also catch the action live over on ApeSquad's twitch: https://twitch.tv/apesquadorg .
